Cancellation policyPrivate sessions are for groups of 8 to 15. Email studio@blanceramic.com with your numbers and date, and we’ll send a quote.
Private groupsDepending on the workshop, you’ll throw or hand-build a piece from stoneware clay. Workshops and courses include glazing and firing. The one exception is the wheel taster (1 or 2 hours): if you’d like to keep your piece, it’s £6 after the class, finished in a transparent glaze.
Approximately 8 weeks (the Hugging Vase takes about 12). We’ll message you on WhatsApp (or by email) when it’s ready. Please collect within 1 month — uncollected pieces will be discarded. Course pieces are ready about 2–3 weeks after your final session and are kept for 2 months after the course ends. Please check your piece when you collect it. If anything’s wrong, tell us there and then. Once it has left the studio, we can’t take responsibility for chips, cracks or breaks that happen afterwards. If a firing fault shows up later, do still let us know. This doesn’t affect your legal rights.
Stoneware, fired at over 1220°C (up to 1240°C). Unlike the earthenware used in many London tasters, our finished pieces are made for everyday use.
Most pieces fire perfectly, but cracks or breakage can occur due to air bubbles or uneven surfaces. This is a natural part of ceramics. Refunds are not provided for firing issues.
Our Parent-Child Pottery Workshop is designed for one adult and one child (ages 5+). For other workshops, ages 16+ can come on their own; under-16s are welcome with an adult who books alongside them (no under-5s).
Classes are kept small: up to 12 in a workshop, and up to 8 on the 6-week course. Private groups are 8 to 15.
Six sessions of guided wheel throwing covering centring, opening, pulling walls, trimming, and glazing. All materials and firing included. £290 per person.
Course datesMissed sessions aren’t refunded or made up automatically. If you know you’ll miss one, let us know as early as you can.
Cancellation policyStandard (£120/month): 6 sessions a month, 2 hours each. Unlimited (£200/month): book open studio any hour, 24/7. Both include 3kg clay and shared tools. Studio glazes included; firing charged per piece or by the shelf. There’s also a one-off drop-in package: £180 for four 3-hour sessions, to use within 2 months, clay not included.
MembershipWe suggest a viewing first. Then join online and book your first session with us. It’s a short studio induction: how the studio, wheels, kiln shelves and booking work. Email studio@blanceramic.com or call/WhatsApp 07787 474855.
Yes — two months. After that, membership runs monthly and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. Without that notice, the deposit isn’t refunded.
Email studio@blanceramic.com at least 30 days before your next billing date and we’ll stop the renewal. After the two-month minimum, 30 days’ notice means your deposit is refunded; with less notice, it isn’t.
Shared studio tools, studio glazes and 3 kg of studio clay a month are included. Firing is charged per piece, by size (see “How much does firing cost?”), and specialist materials may be extra.
Firing is charged per piece, by its longest side, measured before the first firing: up to 10cm £5 · 10–20cm £10 · 20–30cm £18 · over 30cm £30. Wide plates are measured across. Pay before your piece goes in the kiln. You can also hire a kiln shelf; ask us for the rates.
Membership access is for the named member only. Friends are welcome to book a workshop or taster session separately.
